The Calumet Waterway Stewards had a productive February meeting. On the agenda was sponsorship, outreach and media, and selecting officers to help our budding paddling organization grow.

Calumet Waterway Stewards began with Michael’s initiative, who attended the Calumet Heritage Partnership paddle where he met like-minded enthusiasts. “Captain Mike” is an Illinois Water TrailKeeper and the Little Calumet River’s Trail Steward. Mary Poulsen, Secretary
Mary is the Community Relations Director for the City of Blue Island and has been instrumental in the planning and promotion of the recreational use of the City’s waterways, including the Cal-Sag Trail, the I&M National Heritage Corridor, and Southland OARS.
Michael Sinde, Treasurer
Michael is the Career and Technical Education Coordinator at Thornton Township High School District 205 as well as Adjunct Faculty at South Suburban College. In addition to helping with the books, Mike will be assisting community outreach to area schools and youth programs.
