Cyber security is something that should never be ignored. Any Breach of your cyber business security can tremendously affect your business in a negative way as the information can fall into the hands of the wrong person which can be used against your company. Ensure that at no point will the employees be tempted to sabotage the cyber security of your business because they are angry. If there are any signs or elements of the employee not being trustworthy do not then trust them by letting them hold positions that are sensitive to the operations of the business.
Let the end user understand and know the importance of the Cyber Security for your business. Let them understand the importance of using strong passwords. Let them use passwords that are not easy to guess for example when they are installing antivirus software on the business computers. Errors caused by human can also cause security breach. The company should, therefore, organize for training programs so that the end user can be educated on the most important issues such as the use and the importance of using strong passwords. The staff are also trained on the effects of the social media and how they can be able to know any possible threats. It is also important that you have an inventory of all the company assets so you can be able to know what the company owns. Keep a count of inventories like the computers, flash drives, hard drives and others so that you always know the number in case one went missing. This will give you an idea if for example a laptop or a flash drive went missing, and if any of these devices contained confidential information, with one of it fell into the wrong hands that can threaten the security of the company.
Computers always contain information even if they are old and anyone can pick the hard drive and retrieve all the data if they want and use it to hack your company computers so always ensure that they are destroyed and not just disposed of.
Manage all your network security and also monitor whether the end users are always using the antivirus, the internet security, installation of the recommended software patches and also stick to the social media and the internet usage policies.
